We have just returned from a delightful stay at this superb B & B – Lynn & Alan really have achieved perfection here – our warm welcome, delicious food, immaculate and comfortable room plus the most amazing views from our room you could possible wish for, all contributed to making this a truly memorable break. Without a doubt the nicest B & B we have ever stayed in.

Stayed 16th to 19th September in the Magnolia Room.
A most welcoming and caring couple for whom nothing was too much trouble – even to ironing the dress I was to wear at our daughter's wedding, and telling us the best route for our journey home! The ground floor Magnolia room was ideal for my husband who has certain mobility problems, and the views out over the garden were fantastic. We would recommend Highlands B&B to anyone and look forward to coming back again.

We have just returned from a four-day break at Alan and Lynn's lovely home. They were the perfect hosts, serving delicious breakfasts and always willing to offer useful advice on local amenities and places of interest. Our room (the Primrose) was spotlessly clean and had its own patio overlooking a beautiful garden and with a splendid view of the Long Mynd. When shown round the other two rooms we could see that they too were first class and have splendid views. Definitely a B&B to re-visit.
Suggestions: No, everything is fine.

Beautiful, extremely comfortable room, with incredible views: excellent breakfasts, and the friendly and welcoming company of Lynn and Alan, made our three-day break most enjoyable, and all too short. Would unreservedly recommend to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable B&B. We were made very welcome and found all facilities excellent. The bonus of being able to relax on the patio and enjoy the lovely garden and superb views makes Highlands that little bit more special.
We would not hesitate to recommend this super B&B to anyone.

This place is a gem. Beautiful rooms with stunning views and a warm, hospitable welcome made for a lovely three day break. Nothing was too much trouble for Lynn and Alan who were happy to share their knowledge of the area. We also loved watching the amazing number of birds on the feeder while enjoying our breakfasts. We shall most definitely be back.

We came with friends to spend a few days visiting local National Trust properties and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best, B&B we have ever stayed in. The only one I have known to use tea cosies at breakfast. Fresh milk in mini fridge a lovely idea. Spotlessly clean, wonderful views. We enjoyed watching the myriad of birds on the feeder outside the dining room window. Lynn and Alan made us really welcome. They are a lovely couple.

Stayed 11th to 14th August in the Primrose Room.
My sister and I stayed here during a visit to the Shrewsbury Flower Show. Made very welcome by Alan and Lynn and the accommodation was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Views brilliant and we had our own patio to sit on, pity the weather wasnt kind enough to let us sit out more. The gardens absolutely lovely and show the hard work both put in to make their B&B and its environs beautiful for their guests.
The only criticism, if I was being really picky, is that the cooked breakfast (although lovely) could have been more generous, and for health sake, grilled rather than fried, although we did pick the scrambled egg option to lessen the effect. If I had been a hill walker, having to make do with one rasher of bacon, half tomato and two mushrooms would not have seen me through the day. Thought should be perhaps given to this point specially if the guests do not partake of the generous array of cereals on offer, which we had to on the latter days,(something which caused me some slight problem) to see us through to lunch.
Having said all that, we would probably return to Highlands as the hosts are more than generous with their time and have an obvious love of this region and offer a high standard of care.
Suggestions: Would not mind an increase in rates if suggestions about the breakfast were considered. Some people do not do cereals because of dietary and/or other requirements and some maneouverability in the breakfast menu could be considered.

Comment from Alan and Lynn:
Thanks for your honesty, we have considered the issues raised.
With a high percentage of repeat bookings it would appear that the majority of our customers are satisfied. Yes, our prices could be increased to reflect variations, but our analytical facility shows that most are looking at our rates before going on to view the other facilities, probably because these are price sensitive times.
We have looked again at the breakfast information we have on our website and don't feel that we can add anything further to it, as the picture illustrates the cooked breakfast we offer.
We only wish we could please all people, all of the time.

Perfect room, perfect garden, perfect views, perfect hosts. Laughter and sunshine every day of our stay. We'll be back!

Stayed 20th to 23rd July in the Balcony Room.
As chronic pain problems are a major issue for me it is always worrying how accomodation is when away from home. Needn't have worried here for sure. Wonderful room (Balcony Room), great bed and good chairs in room. Things arranged in room so that my mobility impairment was not an issue. Spotlessly clean, lovely decor, beautiful views, great breakfast and especially wonderful hosts who have a great sense of humour and a genuine warmth towards their guests.
We would not hesitate to recommend Highlands to anyone (except if they want the room when we go back – which we will). Thank you Alan and Lynn.
Suggestions: Stay the same – you have it all.

Having stayed at many B&Bs throughout the UK, Highlands certainly ranks as Number 1 so far as views and decor are concerned. The Balcony Room would be very hard to beat. We are very envious of your beautiful home.
Lynn and Alan are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Our 6 night stay went all too quickly and we certainly hope to return in the not too distant future.
Suggestions: Excellent value for money and everything perfect just as it is.

Stayed during May in the Magnolia Room.
Having stayed at over 30 B&Bs over the years and the only one that came close to Highlands B&B for all round comfort, cleanliness, friendliness, value for money etc was in the North of Scotland three years ago. It was then charging £6 pppn more than Highlands, the proprietors weren't quite as friendly as Alan and Lynn and the views weren't so good either.
We don't think that that we'll ever experience a better B&B than Highlands and like so many others, we'll be back.
Suggestions: You could justifiably charge more and still give good value.

We have just returned from 5 wonderful days staying at Highlands B&B, celebrating Patrick's 70th birthday. From the welcoming smiles at the door, to the comfortable rooms with every facility, and lovely views making our stay such a joy. For Alan and Lynn nothing was too much trouble, catering for our every need – there was much laughter everyday. Thank you both; our first visit to Shropshire and to Highlands Bed & Breakfast, we hope to return.

The sheer size of the Balcony Room was fabulous and the views over The Long Mynd were to die for. Alan and Lynn were very friendly and helpful, providing a good breakfast. Just make sure that if you stay you are facing the window during breakfast so that you do not miss out on the variety of birds that constantly visit the feeders. Excellent location for stroll into town, and for longer walks up onto the surrounding hills.
Suggestions: Excellent value for money, just keep doing what you are doing!

Having stayed for four nights at Highlands Bed & Breakfast we can say it was a beautiful spot with fantastic views. Alan and Lynn were very good hosts who can be truly proud of what they offer to people who are lucky enough to stay. The Primrose Room was lovely, although I must admit we did get lost in that big bed! We will be looking forward to our next visit and would recommend Highlands B&B to family and friends.

We stayed three nights. The room has a fantastic view and is very well appointed. It had all we wanted and more. The welcome over a pot of tea was perfect and set the tone for a relaxing and friendly stay. Breakfast proved all we needed to set us up for a day's walking. This is a great value for money B&B.
Suggestions: The only improvement would have been a softer pillow.

I did not want the month to end without writing to express how great our stay was at Highlands B&B. Having come all the way from America (Chicago, Illinois) it was a pleasure to spend a week with Alan and Lynn in the hills overlooking Church Stretton. Our vacation, as well as a time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, were made even more special by visiting Highlands.
Both Alan and Lynn are fantastic hosts who are naturals when it comes to running a B and B. From wonderful accomodation to the lovely garden, great breakfasts, and the opportunity to have memorable conversations, the Hyatts made us feel welcomed in their home. We highly recommend Highlands Bed and Breakfast to all!

We stayed for 7 nights in this room, everything about our stay was first class, beautiful room , very spacious and spotlessley clean. The view from the window was fantastic looking over to the Long Mynd. There was a wide choice for breakfast and was delicious.
Alan and Lynn are the friendliest hosts we have come across warmly welcoming us into their home and helpful throughout our stay. We would certainly recommend anyone to stay here, it is in a beautiful spot at the top of Hazler Hill with beautiful views. We would certainly return to this little gem. Long live the squirrels.

What more could you ask for!!! We had a wonderful time, Lynn and Alan were the perfect hosts, friendly, welcoming and full of humour.
The spacious bedroom with its panoramic view is impressive and having a mini fridge at your disposal is a bonus. When the balcony is finished it will be a lovely compliment to the room.
Our breakfasts were varied and filling, just what you need if you are planning a long walk!
The location is superb, explore more than the popular tourist features as a discerning walker is really spoilt for choice with the variety of scenery on offer.
Overall we had a well deserved break that we wished was longer, so we will be back soon. Many thanks for the hospitality.

The best B&B we have stayed in – everything so comfortable, spacious, clean, tasteful. We loved all those thoughtful little extras – in the room, in the bathroom and at breakfast. Marvellous to be somewhere where there was nothing tacky at all! Just brilliant.
Lynn and Alan are so helpful – especially fortunate for us as we had no car and it was so very wet! All our walking gear was dried out perfectly without any fuss.
Thank you for making us so welcome – we really hope to come back again and would recommend you to anyone who wanted peace and quiet and a lovely environment at a reasonable price.
Suggestions: Please, please don't price yourselves out of our range! You are doing everything just right.

We were made most welcome at the Highlands Bed and Breakfast by Lynn and Alan. We were travelling with our elderly parents (both 89) and the care and consideration for our whole party was outstanding. We were in the Primrose room and parents in the Magnolia. The accommodation is spotless and the Hyatts strive to provide the best of everything.
If you can persuade Lynn to prepare an evening meal you will not be disappointed. She is an excellent cook and a perfect hostess - keeping Alan in check! Well done Lynn and Alan; your happy demeanor and real effort to make your guests at home makes Highlands a place that we can recommend unreservedly.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Highlands in the Lilac room which is spacious, light and airy with the most magnificent view over Shropshire and the house's beautiful garden. A nice touch is the small fridge with fresh milk for your tea/coffee.
Breakfasts are all freshly cooked to order with locally sourced produce. If you are walkers you can start from the doorstep and leave the car behind. There are maps and information available for you but any queries will be sorted by Alan and Lynn who are extremely helpful and first rate hosts. Definitely to be recommended.

We received a lovely warm welcome. Lynn and Alan are excellent hosts, with a great sense of humour - we had lots of laughs during our stay.
The accommodation is superb - cannot fault it, everything you could want was there. Home from home! The best B&B we have stayed in. The views from the Magnolia Room are stunning and you can see the Long Mynd in the distance. Wonderful countryside - our first visit to Shropshire. The garden is beautiful and a joy to be able to sit in and relax after a busy day sightseeing. We liked all the different varieties of plants Lynn and Alan have there and know Alan still has on-going projects to do, which will only make it even more special.
The breakfasts Lynn provided were delicious - you couldn't ask for more; loved the marmite! Usually the choice is only jam/marmalade.
We would most certainly recommend Highlands B&B to all our friends - excellent value for money. Be back again soon!

Lynn and Alan are a very friendly and welcoming couple who want to make your stay with them as enjoyable as possible - and they do. As well as the usual cereals and fruit, Lynn provides a good hearty breakfast cooked from locally sourced produce.

Room: Spacious. Very comfortable. Very well equipped. Stunning views across the beautiful garden to the sweep of the Long Mynd.
Breakfast: Extensive variety. Lynn prepares the locally sourced items as the guests arrive in the dining room (no stewing on a hotplate as in most hotels).
Hospitality: Unsurpassed. After a day walking the hills on routes suggested by Alan & guided by a map or route finder borrowed from him can it get any better than relaxing on comfortable garden loungers specially set up on the lawn to await your return - I doubt it!
Recommendation: Would I recommend Highlands to a friend? Too right I would (and have already done so).
Suggestions: Keep doing exactly what you are doing.
20th June 2010
Stayed 13th to 14th June in the Primrose Room
The warm, informal and engaging welcome when we first arrived put us at our ease straightaway.
Comfortable accommodation in a splendid setting. The garden a joy to behold. Could see the Long Mynd over the rooftops to the left, with Helmeth Hill woods on the other side.
We found the B&B a perfect base for the Cardington and Caer Caradoc walks; next time, will try the local Hope Bowdler, Hazler and Ragleth walks.
Already looking forward to the next stay here.
Suggestions: You provide above average accommodation and could easily justify an increase in rates. Much may depend on income from your bookings off-season, say during Nov-Mar. In a competitive market, any increase in rates may have to balance the need to retain previous customers as well as attracting new ones.

This is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are spacious comfortable and well equipped, and the food very good. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful with information about eating places, car parking and past history, in my case the site of an old house I stayed in in the1940's.
My only reservation in recommending this B&B to anyone, would be the walk up the hill after an evening meal if you haven't got a car. Otherwise make your booking and enjoy your stay, views, walking and hosts all great.

We had the most perfect stay here. Superb hosts so welcoming and helpful to us when recommending pubs and eating places in the area. The room was beautifully clean and the views to wake up to outstanding. The bed was sooo comfortable we slept like logs.
The breakfast was very nice and they have done a good job of making the garden look nice and the guest benches allow you to soak up the views.
A place worthy of staying and enjoying the Church Stretton walking paradise. To sum it up Brilliant.

Thank you both for very enjoyable stay. The room was excellent with fantastic views over the lovely garden and the hills, especially the Long Mynd. The room was very well appointed ,a very comfortable bed plus 2 comfy chairs to sit on in the huge bay window, relax and enjoy the views. The decor was excellent throughout.
We found Lynn and Alan great hosts and enjoyed their company especially their sense of humour. We had a great start to each day wtth a very good breakfast and lots of laughter.
One of the best places we have stayed in. A good walking area, some straight from the house. Alan is a fountain of information and has lots of the area guides for guests to use. All in all a very high standard B&B.
Suggestions: Just carry on as you are. Cannot find anything wrong.

It's not easy to say what stands out the most because there is too much to choose from. Lynn and Alan are the most welcoming, down-to-earth couple with a great sense of humour - we were laughing even before we set foot inside on arrival. They offer very high standard accommodation, beautifully maintained, clean and fresh.
They are creative people - the garden is well cared for and new features are appearing; look out for Lynn's artwork in the dining room; her breakfasts are a joy and Alan's service with a smile makes a good start to the day.
We can honestly say we haven't slept in such comfortable beds in ages and the room offers some thoughtful additions such as real milk in a little fridge and wine glasses! The views are magnificent.
The message here is 'enjoy your stay, get comfortable, we're here to help'. Thank you both of you.
Suggestions: Excellent value for money, you could easily charge more and become 5 star, but I wonder if that would take the magic out of what you offer?

The local area is outstanding as indeed is Shropshire as a whole. Great for walkers. Even the weather was wonderful especially for the time of year, no rain at all and plenty of sun.
To sum up, don't hesitate just book it.
Suggestions: Rates are excellent for the very high standard provided. Certainly having a star rating does influence people in their choice, but as far as we are concerned being a 4 or 5 star would not have made any difference. If becoming a 5 star means higher prices and more rules & regulations for yourselves - forget it.

We really enjoyed our stay with you, which was more like staying with friends rather than being in a B&B, can I thank you both for the friendly way you made us feel comfortable and at home in your house, it made the holiday more enjoyable for us.
If we are ever in the area again, we would certainly stay with you and I would recommend your B&B to anyone who is staying in Church Stretton and is looking for a warm welcome and excellent surroundings.

Lovely room, superb views and the most comfy bed in a B&B I have stayed in. I have recomended it to my daughter and her husband as they are walkers. Would certainly book again in the furture.
Suggestions: Perfect rates.

Absolutuely fantastic in every way - Rooms fantastic food fantastic personality of owners fantastic. Cleanliness superb - decor tasteful (and I am fussy!). Attention to detail excellent - i.e. fresh milk in fridge in room, hot toast for breakfast usually toast is brought in at the start of breakfast and put on the table so by the time you want to eat it it is cold. All tastes catered for - vegetarian breakfast - meat cooked in separate pans! We shall certainly be regular visitors!
Suggestions: Other places with this very high standard charge much more. I think if you increase your prices you would still get your regulars - we would certainly pay more!!!

Ditto to all the reviews, warm and friendly hosts, great food. House a total opposite to mine: clean, tidy, beautifully warm, artistic decor, lots of light, a wonderful view of the hills even from the bed (if you can get your partner to open the curtains). The only place I have slept with a bed more comfortable than my own.
I predict the following: the removal of this B&B from the web as they have no need to advertise visitors rebook it will require at least 2yrs advance booking and they will have to increase the tariff to get a break.
Suggestions: If you increase your rates you might not get such nice guests! Your tariffs are excellent for what you provide and the standard of the accommodation. There is no point seeking 5* status unless you are intending to increase your tariffs and make more work for yourselves.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Highlands. This is one of the best B&Bs that we have stayed at. Our room was very comfortable. The house, its furnishings and carpets are pristine. Lynn and Alan made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to assist us in every way they could. We will be going back!

This was our second stay with Lynn & Alan and will be our last because we liked it so much, we've bought a house in Church Stretton!
Lynn & Alan are very warm, welcoming and jovial hosts; we had plenty of enjoyable chats and laughs and they are a mine of local information. The accommodation at Highlands is first class and the rooms very thoughtfully appointed. The breakfast choice should satisfy any taste and nothing seems too much trouble. On top of this, the views are spectacular and they are developing a wonderful garden. We strongly recommend this accomodation to anybody wishing to stay in this area.

If you are looking for a first class B&B don't miss this one. Exceptional in every way with stunning views of the Long Mynd, great breakfasts, lovely decor, maps of the area for walkers or cyclists. This is certainly the place to be for a wonderful break.

Highlands is one of those places that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you cross the threshold. Ambiente, spacious bright and comfortable, it is a diamond.
The views are breathtaking, and the beautiful grounds merge in to the natural raw beauty of the Stretton Hills giving the impression of an infinity garden. The locally sourced breakfast is of the highest quality as is the accommodation and the complete freedom and warm welcome which is second to none. It is like that family feeling of coming home, which is why we return year after year.

Our first stay with Lynn and Alan, which won't be our last. Already booked for 2010. The best B&B we have ever stayed in. Everything about it was perfect - the rooms, food and Lynn and Alan are wonderful hosts, with great sense of humour. We had some really good laughs with them. Didn't want to leave.

A beautiful place to stay. Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated and the en suite immaculate with an excellent shower. The welcome we received was warm, and the hospitality of Lynn and Alan very friendly and informative. The view from the bedroom was outstanding. We hope to return before long.

Lynn and Alan made our stay worthwhile and the best so far without a doubt. The room was very spacious, bright and airy with french doors which opened into a beautiful and well kept garden. The private terrace has lovely views of the hills emphasising peace and tranquility.
Lynn's emphasis on cleanliness is not only evident in the bedroom but throughout the accommodation. Excellent breakfast with well appreciated flexible breakfast times, again courtesy of the ever cheerful Lynn.
Alan was fantastic throughout our stay, from the moment he offered to pick us from the station to the day we left. He is very knowledgeable about the area. Lots of brochures on activities such as walking, cycling also eating out and lot more which we found very helpful.
Lynn and Alan you are exceptional hosts and you made our stay memorable. Thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality.

Lynn and Alan are a friendly couple who make you feel very welcome. They go out of their way to provide everything you need to enjoy your stay with them.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished making visitors feel at home. The first floor room has a spacious bedroom with an ample ensuite and is charmingly decorated in shades of lilac. The ground floor room has a beautifully funished ensuite - the magnolia room. The lower ground floor room has access to a terrace from which you can view the beautifully landscaped garden. This room has an ensuite with bath and shower. Each of the rooms has a small fridge with fresh milk provided daily, along with a generous hospitality tray.
The meals are expertly cooked and utilise local produce. There is ample choice of cereals, fruit juice and fruit salad, with the cooked breakfast well up to home cooked standard. If evening meals are required the standard again is very high.
The house is in a pleasant location within easy reach of the town centre and is ideal for exploring the beautiful countryside. We have visited Highlands on several occasions varying from one to five nights and have always been enchanted both by the hosts and their beautiful house.
