5 starsStayed during July in the Primrose Room.

Quotation markWe very much enjoyed our visit to Highland B&B. The Primrose room is very comfortable with beautiful views across the garden and over the valley to the Long Mynd. We particularly liked being able to step straight from our room into the garden where we could sit and watch the sun set behind the hills.

Lynn and Alan are very friendly and helpful hosts and were able to provide lots of suggestions for places to eat in the area. Breakfast was very good.

5 starsStayed during July in the Magnolia Room.

Quotation markLovely large room with superb views over Long Mynd. Perfect place to relax in the nice easy chairs provided. Accommodation spotless and hosts very welcoming. Shower is the best we have ever had in a B&B. Nice touches not found elsewhere eg. fresh milk in fridge and Sky TV. Very enjoyable experience, likely to visit again in the future.

5 starsStayed during June in the Lilac Room.

Quotation markI am struggling to add anything to the comments already written, the hospitality was excellent and the room fantastic with brilliant views. The nicest B&B I have stayed at and terrific value for money. An excellent base for exploring the county.

Suggestions: Cannot think of anything that you could do better.

5 starsStayed 28th June in the Magnolia Room.

Quotation markWe received a lovely warm welcome. Lynn and Alan are excellent hosts, with a great sense of humour - we had lots of laughs during our stay.

The accommodation is superb - cannot fault it, everything you could want was there. Home from home! The best B&B we have stayed in. The views from the Magnolia Room are stunning and you can see the Long Mynd in the distance. Wonderful countryside - our first visit to Shropshire. The garden is beautiful and a joy to be able to sit in and relax after a busy day sightseeing. We liked all the different varieties of plants Lynn and Alan have there and know Alan still has on-going projects to do, which will only make it even more special.

The breakfasts Lynn provided were delicious - you couldn't ask for more; loved the marmite! Usually the choice is only jam/marmalade.

We would most certainly recommend Highlands Bamp;&B to all our friends - excellent value for money. Be back again soon!

5 starsStayed 20th to 27th June in the Magnolia and Primrose rooms.

Quotation markLynn and Alan are a very friendly and welcoming couple who want to make your stay with them as enjoyable as possible - and they do. As well as the usual cereals and fruit, Lynn provides a good hearty breakfast cooked from locally sourced produce.

The accommodation is extremely comfortable and the views over the beautiful garden to the Long Mynd are outstanding. Thank you for making our weeks stay with you so memorable.

Suggestions: Good value for money.

5 starsStayed during June in the Lilac Room

Quotation markRoom: Spacious. Very comfortable. Very well equipped. Stunning views across the beautiful garden to the sweep of the Long Mynd.

Breakfast: Extensive variety. Lynn prepares the locally sourced items as the guests arrive in the dining room (no stewing on a hotplate as in most hotels).

Hospitality: Unsurpassed. After a day walking the hills on routes suggested by Alan & guided by a map or route finder borrowed from him can it get any better than relaxing on comfortable garden loungers specially set up on the lawn to await your return - I doubt it!

Recommendation: Would I recommend Highlands to a friend? Too right I would (and have already done so).

Suggestions: Keep doing exactly what you are doing.

5 starsStayed 13th to 14th June in the Primrose Room

Quotation markThe warm, informal and engaging welcome when we first arrived put us at our ease straightaway.

Comfortable accommodation in a splendid setting. The garden a joy to behold. Could see the Long Mynd over the rooftops to the left, with Helmeth Hill woods on the other side.

We found the B&B a perfect base for the Cardington and Caer Caradoc walks; next time, will try the local Hope Bowdler, Hazler and Ragleth walks.

Already looking forward to the next stay here.

Suggestions: You provide above average accommodation and could easily justify an increase in rates. Much may depend on income from your bookings off-season, say during Nov-Mar. In a competitive market, any increase in rates may have to balance the need to retain previous customers as well as attracting new ones.

5 starsStayed 28th to 31st May in the Lilac Room

Quotation markThis is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are spacious comfortable and well equipped, and the food very good. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful with information about eating places, car parking and past history, in my case the site of an old house I stayed in in the1940's.

My only reservation in recommending this B&B to anyone, would be the walk up the hill after an evening meal if you haven't got a car. Otherwise make your booking and enjoy your stay, views, walking and hosts all great.

Suggestions: Good value for money, keep going.

5 starsStayed 21st to 23rd May in the Magnolia Room

Quotation markWe had the most perfect stay here. Superb hosts so welcoming and helpful to us when recommending pubs and eating places in the area. The room was beautifully clean and the views to wake up to outstanding. The bed was sooo comfortable we slept like logs.

The breakfast was very nice and they have done a good job of making the garden look nice and the guest benches allow you to soak up the views.

A place worthy of staying and enjoying the Church Stretton walking paradise. To sum it up Brilliant.

5 starsStayed during May in the Magnolia Room

Quotation markThank you both for very enjoyable stay. The room was excellent with fantastic views over the lovely garden and the hills, especially the Long Mynd. The room was very well appointed ,a very comfortable bed plus 2 comfy chairs to sit on in the huge bay window, relax and enjoy the views. The decor was excellent throughout.

We found Lynn and Alan great hosts and enjoyed their company especially their sense of humour. We had a great start to each day wtth a very good breakfast and lots of laughter.

One of the best places we have stayed in. A good walking area, some straight from the house. Alan is a fountain of information and has lots of the area guides for guests to use. All in all a very high standard B&B.

Suggestions: Just carry on as you are. Cannot find anything wrong.

5 starsStayed during May in the Primrose Room

Quotation markIt's not easy to say what stands out the most because there is too much to choose from. Lynn and Alan are the most welcoming, down-to-earth couple with a great sense of humour - we were laughing even before we set foot inside on arrival. They offer very high standard accommodation, beautifully maintained, clean and fresh.

They are creative people - the garden is well cared for and new features are appearing; look out for Lynn's artwork in the dining room; her breakfasts are a joy and Alan's service with a smile makes a good start to the day.

We can honestly say we haven't slept in such comfortable beds in ages and the room offers some thoughtful additions such as real milk in a little fridge and wine glasses! The views are magnificent.

The message here is 'enjoy your stay, get comfortable, we're here to help'. Thank you both of you.

Suggestions: Excellent value for money, you could easily charge more and become 5 star, but I wonder if that would take the magic out of what you offer?

Quotation markWe felt at home as soon as we walked through the front door. Lynn and Alan are the perfect hosts. Excellent room with very comfortable beds. The view was stunning we are very envious. Breakfasts were cooked to perfection. Good information about the area.

Suggestions: Excellent value for money - should be more for all the facilities.

Quotation markWarm welcome, excellent value for money, and an ideal venue for walking in the area...although fans of fried bread may be dissappointed! (Not enough rings on the hob!)

5 starsStayed 12th April in the Magnolia Room

Quotation markBeautiful room with superb view and extremely comfortable bed. All very clean and lovely decor. Alan & Lynn are wonderful hosts making you feel very welcome and are great to talk to. Very good choice of breakfast and very well cooked.

The local area is outstanding as indeed is Shropshire as a whole. Great for walkers. Even the weather was wonderful especially for the time of year, no rain at all and plenty of sun.

To sum up, don't hesitate just book it.

Suggestions: Rates are excellent for the very high standard provided. Certainly having a star rating does influence people in their choice, but as far as we are concerned being a 4 or 5 star would not have made any difference. If becoming a 5 star means higher prices and more rules & regulations for yourselves - forget it.

5 starsStayed during April in the Lilac Room

Quotation markWe really enjoyed our stay with you, which was more like staying with friends rather than being in a B&B, can I thank you both for the friendly way you made us feel comfortable and at home in your house, it made the holiday more enjoyable for us.

If we are ever in the area again, we would certainly stay with you and I would recommend your B&B to anyone who is staying in Church Stretton and is looking for a warm welcome and excellent surroundings.

5 starsStayed 29th January in the Primrose Room

Quotation markAbsolutuely fantastic in every way - Rooms fantastic food fantastic personality of owners fantastic. Cleanliness superb - decor tasteful (and I am fussy!). Attention to detail excellent - i.e. fresh milk in fridge in room, hot toast for breakfast usually toast is brought in at the start of breakfast and put on the table so by the time you want to eat it it is cold. All tastes catered for - vegetarian breakfast - meat cooked in separate pans! We shall certainly be regular visitors!

Suggestions: Other places with this very high standard charge much more. I think if you increase your prices you would still get your regulars - we would certainly pay more!!!

1st February 2010

5 starsStayed during January in the Magnolia Room

Quotation markDitto to all the reviews, warm and friendly hosts, great food. House a total opposite to mine: clean, tidy, beautifully warm, artistic decor, lots of light, a wonderful view of the hills even from the bed (if you can get your partner to open the curtains). The only place I have slept with a bed more comfortable than my own.

I predict the following: the removal of this B&B from the web as they have no need to advertise visitors rebook it will require at least 2yrs advance booking and they will have to increase the tariff to get a break.

Suggestions: If you increase your rates you might not get such nice guests! Your tariffs are excellent for what you provide and the standard of the accommodation. There is no point seeking 5* status unless you are intending to increase your tariffs and make more work for yourselves.

Quotation markWe had a very enjoyable stay at the Highlands. This is one of the best B&Bs that we have stayed at. Our room was very comfortable. The house, its furnishings and carpets are pristine. Lynn and Alan made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to assist us in every way they could. We will be going back!

5 starsStayed during October/November in the Lilac Room

Quotation markThis was our second stay with Lynn & Alan and will be our last because we liked it so much, we've bought a house in Church Stretton!

Lynn & Alan are very warm, welcoming and jovial hosts; we had plenty of enjoyable chats and laughs and they are a mine of local information. The accommodation at Highlands is first class and the rooms very thoughtfully appointed. The breakfast choice should satisfy any taste and nothing seems too much trouble. On top of this, the views are spectacular and they are developing a wonderful garden. We strongly recommend this accomodation to anybody wishing to stay in this area.

5 starsStayed at various times in the Primrose Room

Quotation markHighlands is one of those places that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you cross the threshold. Ambiente, spacious bright and comfortable, it is a diamond.

The views are breathtaking, and the beautiful grounds merge in to the natural raw beauty of the Stretton Hills giving the impression of an infinity garden. The locally sourced breakfast is of the highest quality as is the accommodation and the complete freedom and warm welcome which is second to none. It is like that family feeling of coming home, which is why we return year after year.

5 starsStayed during September 2009 in the Primrose Room

Quotation markLynn and Alan made our stay worthwhile and the best so far without a doubt. The room was very spacious, bright and airy with french doors which opened into a beautiful and well kept garden. The private terrace has lovely views of the hills emphasising peace and tranquility.

Lynn's emphasis on cleanliness is not only evident in the bedroom but throughout the accommodation. Excellent breakfast with well appreciated flexible breakfast times, again courtesy of the ever cheerful Lynn.

Alan was fantastic throughout our stay, from the moment he offered to pick us from the station to the day we left. He is very knowledgeable about the area. Lots of brochures on activities such as walking, cycling also eating out and lot more which we found very helpful.

Lynn and Alan you are exceptional hosts and you made our stay memorable. Thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality.

5 starsStayed during August 2009 in the Lilac Room

Quotation markLynn and Alan are a friendly couple who make you feel very welcome. They go out of their way to provide everything you need to enjoy your stay with them.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished making visitors feel at home. The first floor room has a spacious bedroom with an ample ensuite and is charmingly decorated in shades of lilac. The ground floor room has a beautifully funished ensuite - the magnolia room. The lower ground floor room has access to a terrace from which you can view the beautifully landscaped garden. This room has an ensuite with bath and shower. Each of the rooms has a small fridge with fresh milk provided daily, along with a generous hospitality tray.

The meals are expertly cooked and utilise local produce. There is ample choice of cereals, fruit juice and fruit salad, with the cooked breakfast well up to home cooked standard. If evening meals are required the standard again is very high.

The house is in a pleasant location within easy reach of the town centre and is ideal for exploring the beautiful countryside. We have visited Highlands on several occasions varying from one to five nights and have always been enchanted both by the hosts and their beautiful house.
