The Highlands Bed & Breakfast website has been designed to be available to all, however if you encounter any difficulties please contact us and we will try to encompass your needs by improving the site.
Access keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

Standards Compliance
- All pages on this site are XHTML 1.0 Strict or XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
- All pages on this site are Bobby approved and comply with all of the automatic checkpoints of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- All pages use structured semantic markup using eg. h1 and h2 tags are used to convey document format. h1 for main titles, h2 tags for subtitles etc.
Validation
All pages on this site use valid markup, validated using the HTML validation service provided by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Navigation aids
- All pages have rel=home links to aid navigation in text-only browsers.
- A link to the home page is available on each page.
- Navigation menus are HTML lists styled with cascading style sheets (CSS).
Visual design
- All pages on this site use cascading style sheets for visual layout.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets, the content of each page is still readable.
- All CSS have been validated using the W3C CSS validation service.
Fonts
This site uses relative font sizes that you can control using the settings in your web browser.
You can change the text size in Microsoft Internet Explorer by:
- Using your mouse and selecting View > Text size followed by your preferred text size from 'Smallest' to 'Largest'. The default setting is 'Medium'.
You can change the text size in Mozilla Firefox by:
- Using your mouse and selecting View > Text size followed by 'Increase' or 'Decrease'. To return the text size to its default setting, select 'Normal'.
- Using your keyboard and pressing 'Control +' to increase, 'Contol -' to decrease or 'Control 0' to return to the default setting.
Links
- Many links in the site have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail.
- For users of text only browsers a skip navigation link is made visible at the top of each page.
JavaScript
To enhance user experience this site uses a small amount of JavaScript. If JavaScript is disabled or your browser does not support it, the site is still fully functional.
Images
All content images on this site have alternative text attributes, known as alt text. When an image is used on a web page to convey information its content is also described in the alt text. This means that the image can be understood by text browsers and assistive technologies such as screen readers. If an image is used purely for decorative purposes, the text attribute for the image is left empty in line with accepted best practice.
