Highlands B&B Access Statement
Introduction
Highlands Bed & Breakfast is situated on the lower slopes of Hazler Hill and as such is built on sloping ground. Hazler Road rises steeply in places
and presents a challenge to many attempting the 1300 yard walk for the first time.
Pre-arrival
- We can be contacted by phone on 01694 723737 or by email via our
website www.highlandsbandb.co.uk - We are situated approximately one mile out of town.
- There is no public transport to our premises but we will, by prior arrangement, collect by car or people carrier from the Town. Taxis are available from Church Stretton - Contact Rita Morris on 01694 722741 or D Woodhouse on 01694 723105.
- There is a good train service into Church Stretton
(Arriva trains - Wales, Cardiff to Manchester line). - There are state of the art toilet facilities on Easthope Road (near the Co-op).
Arrival and car parking facilities
- Off road car parking adjacent to the front entrance is provided.
- Four parking spaces are available on a first come basis.
- Assistance with luggage is normally available, however to be
sure it is best that we know when you are likely to arrive. - The parking and walking area is coarse gravel.
- There are two 100mm (4 inch) steps into the house.
- At night the parking area is floodlit.
Main Entrance and Reception
- Access is through a standard width residential door into
the well lit ground floor hall. - On arrival you are welcome enjoy refreshments in our reception/dining room
on the ground floor covered by wood block and rugs. - All room doors are of standard residential width 760mm, nominal
en-suite doors in some cases are narrower. - Assistance will be offered where appropriate.
- You will be provided with keys to your room.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, corridors etc
- Access to our first floor (Lilac Suite) and our Basement (Primrose room)
is from the ground floor level hallway via sets of carpeted stairs only. - The ground floor (Magnolia room) is off the hall via a corridor 800mm
wide at its narrowest point.
Public Areas - Sitting Room, Lounges, Lobbies etc
- A casual seating area is provided in the dining room.
Public WC
As all room are en-suite no public toilets are provided.
Dining Room
- Breakfast is taken in a large ground floor dining room. You can help
yourself to cereals, fruit and orange juice. - A conventional domestic dining table is used (680mm under space).
Two of the six chairs have arms, 480mm between them. - Cooked breakfast is served at the table.
- If you have any food allergies please tell us when booking, we will do our best to accommodate you.
- Smoking is not permitted at Highlands Bed & Breakfast.
Bedrooms
- All rooms have standard fitments including corded kettles and jugs for filling.
- Short pile carpet is in all bedrooms.
- Standard height (650mm) pocket sprung beds are used, all with zip-link doubling facility exept the Lilac room annexe.
- There is a small step 70mm level change to the first floor (Lilac room) en-suite.
- Two 200mm steps are used to access the Magnolia room en-suite.
- All toilet, shower and pedestal basins are of a standard domestic design.
- The Magnolia room en-suite has a 600mm door, a vanity unit with
no clear under space and limited rear space. - Smoke alarms give a loud beeping noise if activated.
- In the event of an emergency the proprietors will raise the alarm.
- A mini fridge is provided in each room.
- Television’s have a remote control.
Bathroom, Shower Room and WC (En-suite)
- An over-bath shower is provided in the Primrose room. Other en-suites have shower cubicles where in all cases there is a step up to 230mm.
- The side of bath is 540mm high.
- It is necessary to stand unaided in the showers (size restrictions).
- WC's and pedestal basins are of standard height with non thermostatic taps.
- Shower units are thermostatic.
- The Lilac room and Magnolia room en-suites have ceramic tiled floors. The Primrose room en-suite has short pile carpet.
Grounds and Gardens
You will be welcome to wander around the rear garden which is on a slope.
The Primrose room has a patio area available. There is a 120mm step
at the vestibule door threshold.
Additional Information
- As we are primarily a domestic residential premises you will
be informed of emergency procedures on your arrival. - A wireless broadband internet facility is available.
- Clean, well behaved service dogs can be catered for by prior arrangement.
